The Cornish Pirates have made two new signings - a Canadian prop forward and a Welsh assistant coach.

Prop Iain Exner, 29, is a former Canada international who toured New Zealand with his country in 2006.

The ex-firefighter joins from French club Pau, where he played alongside future Pirates team-mate Mike Burak.

Assistant coach Brett Davey, 35, comes to Cornwall from Coventry, having played for the Newport Gwent Dragons regional side and Bristol.

Davey, who is a WRU Level 3 qualified coach, kicked four conversions for the Dragons when they beat the Pirates 53-8 at the Mennaye Field in 2003.
