Drewett is hoping his side can make it two finals in a row |
Exeter Chiefs director of rugby Pete Drewett says he is hoping his side can get back to the final of the EDF National Trophy. The Chiefs, who lost 19-16 at Twickenham to the Cornish Pirates last season, take on Nottingham in the semi-finals at Sandy Park on Saturday.
"This is the right track to be on if we are to emulate our form a year ago which we are eager to do," he said.
"Cup rugby is an important part of our season."
Nottingham, who are one spot below second-placed Exeter Chiefs in National One, pushed the Chiefs hard in their 20-15 league defeat at Sandy Park in November.
"Nottingham will of course be the biggest challenge of the Trophy so far," said Drewett.

"They are strong all round which is why they are in the position they are in the league, and can clearly play attacking rugby with flair.
"However, we are going really well too. We go into this game on the back of two good league games in which we have scored 36 and 62 points in both matches.
"We also didn't concede any points. Now we just have to ensure we prepare as thoroughly and professionally as we can to be on top of things come Saturday."
Whoever comes out on top will face either Plymouth Albion or runaway league leaders Northampton in the final at Twickenham on 12 April.
