Matt Williams was delighted with Ulster's display at Ravenhill |
Ulster coach Matt Williams was clearly encouraged as his side chalked up back-to-back wins by beating the Scarlets 20-8 at blustery Ravenhill. "In those conditions we had to tough it out and the lads played some courageous rugby," he said. "They had to defend and fight every inch of the way. We knew it was going to be a scrap out there. "We played so differently from the last game and that was particularly pleasing for me." Williams praised the role of lock Matt McCullough who won the man of the match award. "A lot of people criticised that selection but we had to pick some scrappers," added the coach. "Matt was courageous in taking the ball forward which is usually not his forte and he stole a lot of their mauling." McCullough himself comented: "We are particularly delighted to beat a Scarlets side which had come here twice previously and won."
