Stade Francais' bid to reach the Heineken Cup quarter-finals ended in disappointment despite their bonus-point triumph at The Stoop. The victory put Stade on 18 points but Cardiff Blues' win over Bristol put the Welsh region through as pool winners.
Quins did take an early lead but tries from Dimitri Szarzewski and Julien Arias put Stade in control.
David Skrela and Ignacio Corleto scored after the break while Simon Keogh claimed a late consolation for Quins.
Harlequins director of rugby Dean Richards"There's a huge amount of positives.
"We went into today's game with nothing to lose and everything to gain by playing some rugby.
"We didn't get the tries that we wanted - three times it went to the video referee - and they were all opportunities that we should have converted.
"But if we were not creating I would be far more worried. This group has been a great learning curve."
