Betsen calls time on France duty
Serge Betsen
Betsen played in two World Cup semi-finals
Veteran France flanker Serge Betsen has announced his retirement from international rugby.

The 33-year-old Biarritz forward, who was capped 63 times by his country, also revealed that he will retire from club rugby at the end of the season.

"I have decided to end my international career," Betsen said.

Twice a Six Nations Grand Slam winner, he was named World Player of the Year in 2002 and played in France's World Cup 2003 and 2007 semi-final defeats.

England won both those semi-finals and since the 2007 defeat, Fabien Pelous, Raphael Ibanez and Christophe Dominici have retired from international rugby.

"I am still under contract with Biarritz until the end of the season, but when that is over, I will be through with playing," added Betsen.
