Nallet named new French captain
Lionel Nallet
Nallet has won 32 caps for France
New France coach Marc Lievremont has sprung a surprise by choosing lock Lionel Nallet as his captain for the RBS Six Nations Championship.

Nallett, 31, takes over the armband from Raphael Ibanez, who retired from international rugby on Thursday.

"It was a massive surprise," said Nallet, capped 32 times but only a peripheral player in their run to the World Cup semi-finals last year.

France open their Six Nations defence against Scotland at Murrayfield.

As well as Ibanez, fellow veterans Christophe Dominici and another former captain, Fabien Pelous, have also retired from Test rugby.

"It is a great honour that has been handed to me, especially coming from Marc, who I appreciated when he was a player," Nallet added.

"I can't wait to get going - I want to enjoy myself and win titles, starting with the Six Nations."
