Wasps marched into the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals with their second home win over Newcastle in six days.
Jonny Wilkinson, in his first match since the World Cup, and Toby Flood could not help the Falcons as Wasps welcomed Phil Vickery back to action.
Danny Cipriani contributed 14 points, with four penalties and a conversion, while Wilkinson hit only two penalties.
Eoin Reddan kicked ahead and scored and Wasps gained a penalty try after Newcastle disrupted the forward drive.
Newcastle introduced their new big-money signing, All Black Carl Hayman, at half-time and he gave them a more physical presence in the forward battle but was unable to turn the tide.
Wilkinson passed up three penalty-kicking opportunities to go for the corner in search of a try but his team were unable to breach the well-drilled Wasps defence.
Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan on Danny Cipriani: "He's a talented player which generally means you see the game early.
"The danger is you can see too much too early but what's very good is he is seeing the right options and he's not getting beyond himself.
"He's actively thinking for the team and that, for a talented player, is a very big plus."
Newcastle's Jonny Wilkinson and coach John Fletcher: "Wasps got one up on us in terms of physicality today."
"We've got to become more streetwise around the ball. We know we can play better."
