Sale ran in six tries as they launched their European Challenge Cup campaign with an easy win over Montpellier. Charlie Hodgson did most of the damage, scoring the crucial first try in a personal tally of 20 points.
Montpellier were trailing by only 9-6 when Hodgson went over on the stroke of the half-time.
In the second half Sebastien Chabal, Steve Hanley, Chris Mayor and Richard Wigglesworth (twice) all touched down to give Sale a bonus-point victory.
