But a disciplinary hearing found Chabal not guilty, meaning the Sale star will be able to play in Friday's World Cup third-place play-off against Argentina.
Chabal replaced Fabien Pelous in the 26th-minute of Saturday's contest.
His challenge on Shaw was spotted by citing commissioner Dennis Wheelahan.
