Carter plays for Canterbury Crusaders in New Zealand

Seven of the team who were defeated by France on Saturday are moving to European clubs, automatically ruling out their selection for the All Blacks.

But Carter, 25, said: "The black jersey means more to me than anything else."

Prop Carl Hayman (Newcastle), winger Doug Howlett (Munster) and Chris Jack (Saracens) are all moving to Europe.

In addition, Anton Oliver (Toulon), Byron Kelleher (Toulouse), Aaron Mauger (Leicester) and Luke McAlister (Sale) are also leaving New Zealand.

However, Carter, regarded as the world's best fly-half, added: "I'm keen to hang around and make the most of these next few years.

"I would not want to be anywhere else but New Zealand."

The All Blacks were favourites to win the World Cup for the first time since 1987 before their 20-18 loss to France in Cardiff.

And McCaw has spoken of the crushing disappointment following the defeat.

"You can imagine the amount of work that's gone on, that everyone's put in," McCaw said.

"This year guys have sweated a hell of a lot. We were beaten by a better team.

"The pain in the eyes and the body language sums it up. Some guys have played their last games for the All Blacks."
