Gaitan played the entire match for Argentina in Cardiff |
Argentina centre Martin Gaitan has left hospital in Wales after having treatment for a heart problem. But the Biarritz player has been ruled out of the Pumas' World Cup campaign, with Hindu centre Hernan Senillosa called up as his replacement.
Gaitan, 29, fainted in the dressing room after his side's 27-20 loss to Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.
He said he was "feeling very good" after being treated, but admitted he was unsure whether he could play again.
"That's not important. I am alive. Whatever comes from now on will be for free," he told La Nacion newspaper.
"I don't know what I will do then, but now I will live a normal life, following doctors' indications.
"I have to take some pills now and some others for the rest of my life."
Doctors at the University of Wales hospital in Cardiff discovered that one of Gaitan's arteries was blocked and performed a successful procedure to dilate it.
He now plans to visit the Pumas squad before the start of the World Cup, as long as his presence does not prove a distraction.
"If I feel better, I think I will meet the guys the week before," Gaitan added. "However, I don't want to make them lose concentration."
