Prop Somerville fit for NZ squad
Greg Somerville
Somerville has not played for New Zealand since August 2006
Prop Greg Somerville has been confirmed in New Zealand's World Cup squad after recovering from a series of injuries.

The 29-year-old has not played a Test since rupturing his Achilles last year, and recently underwent surgery on a torn retina, but has been passed fit.

All Blacks coach Graham Henry, who left a place open for Somerville, said: "The signs are that he'll be ready for contact before we leave for France.

"We'll have a good amount of training time with him in Marseille as well."

Somerville is a vital member of the All Blacks squad because of his ability to play on both the loose-head and tight-head sides of the scrum.

Two other players carrying injuries - prop Neemia Tialata and scrum-half Andy Ellis - were also confirmed in the squad.

Both players suffered head injuries while playing in domestic matches, but have been passed fit to travel.
