Scarlets' Dafydd James increased his European record try tally

"It's fantastic to knock out the champions, but we had to fight hard at the end," James said.

"A couple of silly penalties given away and a couple of lapses of concentration let Munster claw their way back a bit.

"The crowd were fantastic and were very vocal the whole game. I'm delighted but we've still got a little way to go."

James set the Scarlets on their way with the opening try at Stradey Park, barging his way over after five minutes.

That increased the wing's European tally to 28, increasing his status as the competition's record try scorer.

"I love scoring tries and I put my head back and just went for it, but there's a lot of life in me and I can still offer a little bit!" added the 31-year-old.

Scarlets will be away in the semi-finals in three weeks, where they will face the winners of Sunday's match between Leicester and Stade Francais.

Scarlets rugby director Phil Davies said: "We are in the semi-finals now, which is the main thing, and we will see where we are on Monday.

"Leicester and Stade Francais are both quality teams, and whoever is there we will take on their merit.

"Another day is another challenge. Whoever we play now will be an experienced team and we will have a game on our hands.

"But we have got momentum in this competition, and we want to keep it going."
