Pundits on Italy v Ireland

Keith Wood
Keith Wood
Former Ireland captain

Without the last seconds of the game when Italy scored their second try, Ireland did absolutely everything they needed to.

It was an absolutely fantastic performance, and they put themselves in a position to win the tournament.

At least they could sit down with a nice pint of Guinness or glass of red wine and enjoy the France-Scotland game, although maybe not the end of it.

Phil Matthews
Former Ireland flanker

Gordon D'Arcy was man-of-the-match for me.

He has been the class back of this Six Nations and he broke the gain line when nothing was on.

His creativity led to Ireland's supremacy in the game ultimately, and he turned the game more than anyone.

They could have won by more if they had got the ball into touch in those last seconds, and that over-ambition under pressure came at a high price.
