Waterman made her debut for England against Ireland in 2003 |
Clifton wing Danielle Waterman scored a hat-trick of tries to help England maintain their bid for a second straight Six Nations Grand Slam. England dominated the first half with Waterman and Charlotte Barras scoring twice and Maggie Alphonsi adding another to put them 31-0 ahead.
France number eight Delphine Plantet responded just after the break but Waterman added her third on 69 minutes.
Christelle Le Duff added a second score for France with three minutes left.
"I am delighted with this scoreline," said head coach Geoff Richards.
"Before the game I never expected this would be the kind of result we would be looking at.
"We played really well in the first-half and the players did everything asked of them. We scored some decent tries early on which I think stunned France and put them on the back-foot.
"After the break we lost some control, but we kept it together and it was only for a few errors that let France in and they scored."
England will seal the Grand Slam if they can beat Wales at Taffs Well this Saturday.
