Jenkins praised Scotland's forward onslaught

"The set pieces were the biggest problem," Jenkins told BBC Sport Wales.

"Scotland came out with an onslaught in the first 30 minutes, they dominated the ball and therefore the game. We had 35% possession - and it felt like it.

"They turned over six of our 16 line outs, and the scrum barely functioned. We defended heroically, but without the ball we could not challenge."

Since Jenkins took charge of Wales last summer they have yet to beat a major nation, only holding wins over Canada and the Pacific Islanders, and pressure will increase on the coach ahead of away games in Paris and Rome.

"It's a very disappointed dressing room and I can assure people that the players are as upset as the fans," said Jenkins after the Murrayfield humiliation.

"We have to turn it around for the game in France in two weeks time.

"There's a need to keep the heads up, to learn the hard lessons, and to keep working hard."

Wales captain Stephen Jones was keen to pay tribute to Scotland's display.

"They played very well, they were efficient and organised, their defence was very aggressive and they deserved the win," the outside-half told BBC Sport Wales.

"We had no chance with the sort of possession we returned, but I was proud of our effort in defence and the way we kept them from scoring a try.
