Lapasset says the Heineken Cup will take place next season |
French rugby union chief Bernard Lapasset says he has no doubt the Heineken Cup will go ahead next year. "The European Cup isn't in danger - it will take place next season," he said.
There have been doubts over its future because of threats of a French boycott and England's top clubs wanting a greater say in running the event.
On Wednesday, European rugby bosses agreed on a new set of rules and regulations for the competition at a meeting in Dublin.
However, French clubs refused to take part, claiming English clubs were stalling the process.
England's top clubs are at loggerheads with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) because they want a bigger say in the running of the competition.
The RFU is linking the issue to the wider ongoing club versus country dispute.
