A 13,000 crowd bid farewell to Umaga in Sunday's 32-10 win over Grenoble |
Former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga is returning to New Zealand to link up with the Wellington Hurricanes after his nine-game spell with Toulon. Umaga, 33, helped the French Division Two side to eight wins in nine games, lifting them from ninth to third place.
Umaga, who won 74 caps for the All Blacks, was paid a reported 235,000 for his two-month contract.
"It's been a great time in my life to play rugby here and enjoy the French culture and Toulon people," he said.
"They've been very good to me. I'm sad to go home but New Zealand is home for me. But this is like my second or third home now."
