"The All Blacks have had a good season and my team mates are part of this award too."
All Blacks coach Graham Henry added: "We have a special group of players right now. They are all working for each other which gives us a great strength as a team."
Eaton's performances in the second row during his nine-cap Test career have marked him out as one of the most promising young forwards in the world.
"I'm honoured, of course, and hope that there's more to come in the next few seasons," said Eaton.
"There's a lot of competition for places in the All Blacks right now and my first goal will be to play my way back in again next year."
The IRPA Awards are voted for by players from the national squads of France, Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
