Michalak was criticised by French fans during the Six Nations |
Toulouse fly-half Frederic Michalak could miss their opening Heineken Cup game against Ulster in October after injuring his knee during training. The 23-year-old, who has won 42 France caps, is expected to be out for at least four weeks.
"Fred twisted his right knee at the end of the training session," said team doctor Albert Sadacca.
"He has sprained the lateral ligament. In a sense we are lucky, because the cruciate ligaments are not torn."
Michalak should be available for France's Test matches against New Zealand and Argentina in November.
He came under fire during the Six Nations this year after disappointing displays against Scotland and Ireland.
Ulster take on Toulouse at Ravenhill on 21 October.
