Latham has 68 caps and was an ever-present this year |
Full-back Chris Latham has been voted Australian player of the year by his Wallabies team-mates. The Queensland player, 31, became the first back to win the John Eales medal, following number eight David Lyons in 2004 and hooker Jeremy Paul in 2005.
He polled a record 345 votes from the players who appeared in the Wallabies' 13 Tests since the end of last year.
Second-rower Nathan Sharpe (171 votes) and flanker George Smith (157) came second and third in the poll.
