Rogers ruled out of Tri-Nations
Mat Rogers
Rogers is expected to be fit to play in Europe later this year
Australian back Mat Rogers will miss the remainder of the Tri-Nations series with a knee injury.

Rogers played with the injury during the Wallabies' 34-27 defeat to the All Blacks in Auckland earlier this month.

The Australian Rugby Union says Rogers will have surgery on his left knee later this week and he is expected to return to training in five weeks.

Western Force back Scott Staniforth will replace Rogers in the 25-man Wallabies squad.

Australia will take on South Africa in Ellis Park on 9 September.

Rogers said in a statement: "I've had the injury for a couple of weeks now and I was hoping it would have pulled up a bit better than it has.

"By having the surgery now I'll have time to get a good preparation for the tour to Europe in November."
