Rowell now needs to win support from within the game |
Jack Rowell has been put forward as the Rugby Football Union Council's official nomination for the role of chairman of the RFU management board. The former England coach, the director of rugby at Bath, beat off competition from Martyn Thomas and Sir Hal Miller.
People within the game now have three weeks to submit their nominations, which can include Thomas and Miller.
The new chairman, who will succeed Graeme Cattermole, will be revealed on 29 April.
Rowell said: "I'm delighted to be nominated by the Council and my aim now is to convince the game that I am the right person for the job."
