Balding is held in high regard by Melville |
Gloucester have signed Leicester number eight Adam Balding on a two-year deal. The 24-year-old, who has played for England at every age-group level, was a replacement in the Tigers' win over Sale in the Zurich Wildcard final.
"It's been a good squad for a number of years now," Balding said of Gloucester on the club's official website.
"Nigel Melville (director of rugby) and Dean Ryan (coach) have a number of quality back-row forwards and I'm well aware of the task ahead."
Melville believes the forward will prove a valuable addition to the Kingsholm squad.
"Adam will add a lot of power to the back of the scrum," he said.
"With the likes of Hazell, Forrester, Boer and Buxton, as well as the younger players coming through, there will be plenty of options in that area for the new season."
