Woodward has been linked with a possible switch to football |
Leading international coaches have united in praise of Sir Clive Woodward, who has quit as England coach to pursue a career in football. France coach Bernard Laporte said: "He is a great coach and a great man.
"Even if we were very different, I have a great relationship with him. He made me laugh and I think I amused him. I have the greatest respect for him."
South Africa coach Jake White said: "It will be a huge loss. England are losing a wealth of experience."
White added that former Springboks coach Nick Mallett would not be a contender to replace Woodward at the England helm.
"I have spoken with Nick Mallet who said he needed to spend time with his family in South Africa," he said.
French team manager Jo Maso was another to heap praise on Woodward's abilities.
"He has marked the history of rugby. He has always been very nice and polite with us," Maso explained.
