Spencer to undergo surgery
Blues fly-half Carlos Spencer
Carlos Spencer was injured in the Super 12 game against the Chiefs
Auckland Blues fly-half Carlos Spencer will undergo surgery next week on the broken jaw he suffered during the 27-20 loss to the Waikato Chiefs on Friday.

The mercurial fly-half, injured in a tackle by Chiefs prop Deacon Manu, will have a metal plate inserted in his jaw and could miss four Super 12 matches.

Manu has been suspended for two weeeks after New Zealand Rugby Union judiciary chiefs found him guilty of foul play.

But he will miss just one game, as the Chiefs have a bye this weekend.

The Blues, who are struggling in this year's Super 12, also have injury worries over Xavier Rush and Joe Rokocoko.

Rush has concussion while Rokocoko has a possible broken collar bone.

Meanwhile, Wellington Hurricanes are refusing to reveal why centre Ma'a Nonu and prop Neemia Tialata were dropped for their clash against the Stormers.

The pair were axed for breaches of team rules but the exact details have not been released.

New South Wales Waratahs full-back Mat Rogers has been cleared of suffering a serious ankle injury.

Rogers was carried off in the last minute of the game against the Golden Cats, which the Waratahs won 46-10.

The 28-year-old, who scored 26 points in the six-try triumph, had thought to be suffering possible ligament damage.

But an X-ray on Saturday showed Rogers had only suffered a bad sprain and, as a result, will travel with the Waratahs to South Africa.
