Straeuli was sacked in December | Jake White has been appointed the new coach of South Africa's international rugby side, replacing Rudolf Straeuli. The South African Rugby Football Union promoted its under-21 coach to the top job from a shortlist of eight men. White succeeds Straeuli, who was sacked in December following a disappointing World Cup campaign in Australia. The shortlist included former Springbok winger Chester Williams and Bulls coach Rudy Joubert, as well as Gert Smal, Pieter de Villiers and Dumisani Mhani. England coach Sir Clive Woodward strongly denied claims linking him with the South Africa post.
