South Africa winger Breyton Paulse has accused Springboks staff of limiting the opportunities for black players at the World Cup. The Springboks fielded only one non-white player as they lost to New Zealand in the quarter-finals.
"I couldn't understand why we didn't get more opportunities," Paulse told the Star newspaper.
"It just seems when it comes to the big set-ups, coaches would rather put their trust in a white player.
"It was strange to me.
"Unfortunately it came down again to black players losing out."
Paulse was also critical of "Kamp Staaldraad", the squad's now notorious pre-World Cup training camp. One of the trials the players were put through was to huddle naked in a pit and be doused by freezing water while the English national anthem and New Zealand's Haka were played.
"I nearly cracked when we were sitting naked in that pit," said Paulse.
"Most of the other things were not that bad."
