Scotland prop Gordon McIlwham is to join Munster at the end of the World Cup.
The Irish province have signed the 33-year-old former Glasgow and Begles Bordeaux front row after a move for former Auckland prop Mike Storey fell through at the weekend.
New Zealander Storey, who had already agreed terms with Munster, was injured during a pre-season match with Northland and has been ruled out for most of the season.
So Munster coach Alan Gaffney turned to the experienced McIlwham, who has been signed until the end of the current campaign.
The Scot, who played for Bordeaux last season, was first capped against Fiji in May 1998 and won his 15th cap against Ireland in Murrayfield on 6 September.
Earlier this month, he was named in Scotland's World Cup squad.
