Pride at stake for Celtic pair
Scotland coach Ian McGeechan
Scotland coach Ian McGeechan needs a victory
Scotland v Wales | Murrayfield | Saturday, 8 March | Kick-off 1600 GMT

Exclusively live and interactive on BBC One and Two | Live commentary on BBC Radio Scotland, Wales, Cymru and the BBC Sport website.

Seldom has a Six Nations match been so much about restoring pride on both sides as this Saturday's match at Murrayfield.

Already it has the makings of a wooden-spoon decider.

The Scots are perhaps in most need of a face-saving performance, having failed even to score a try in their two matches so far.

Wales, after an embarrassing defeat in Italy, at least put up a semblance of a fight in going down to England the following week.

But neither side has performed nearly well enough for two countries with such proud rugby history.

The respective coaches have refrained from making sweeping changes despite the lack of success in this season's championship.

But that is as much down to a lack of strenth in depth, as it is to player loyalty.

Both squads appear to be suffering from a lack of confidence, which will only be restored with the scoring of a few tries and a win.

While Wales have a pretty good record in Scotland, recent history is on the Scots' side.

The Welsh have won only once at Murrayfield since 1987.

Steve Hansen's side will believe that record is there to be broken, while Ian McGeechan's men must feel they can use that to their benefit, to get back to winning ways.
