Rogers primed for Super 12 debut
Rogers in sevens action for Australia
Rogers starts for the Waratahs on Saturday
Mat Rogers will make his Super 12 debut on Saturday as the New South Wales Waratahs launch their campaign against the Chiefs.

The former Kangaroo international has been named at full-back for their tournament opener.

Rogers has played just once in a trial match for the Australian provincial side against the Canterbury Crusaders, which the Crusaders won by two points.

The 26-year-old has already had the chance to play at the highest level this season, representing Australian in the IRB sevens in Brisbane earlier this year.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, are without the guidance of former coach John Mitchell who took up the post of All Blacks boss at the end of last year's campaign.

Mitchell led the Kiwi team to last year's semi-finals and has since been replaced by Kevin Greene.

Highlanders coach Laurie Mains
Mains is back in charge of the Highlanders

In the other semi-final due to take place on Saturday, last year's runners-up, the Crusaders, take on the Otago Highlanders.

The Crusaders are without the services of Todd Blackadder but boast a plethora of All Black talent for the game.

Among the biggest names are Richard McCaw, Scott Robertson, Dave Hewett and Norm Maxwell.

Former All Black coach Laurie Mains is back in charge of the Highlanders, a decade after leaving the club to take charge of the international side.

Born and bred in Otago, Mains has been tipped to help All Black wing/full-back Jeff Wilson regain his best form.

Wilson starts the match alongside fellow internationals Byron Kelleher, Tony Brown and Taine Randell.
