It became clear after he missed selection for the visit of Romania that Gibbs was considering ending his international career. "I have retired from the game at international level, and I will be making a statement early next week," Gibbs said. He will continue playing club rugby for Swansea and hopes to shake off an injury in time to face Welsh-Scottish League opponents Cardiff on Saturday. Gibbs made his debut for Wales against England in Cardiff 10 years ago and brought up his half century of caps against the same country last season. He made three tours with the Lions, and was named man of the series against South Africa in 1997. As well as winning 53 caps for Wales, Gibbs also played three seasons of rugby league for St Helens before returning to Swansea in 1996. | Welsh wonder Send your tributes to Scott Gibbs Centre of excellence
