Glasgow capitalise on Swansea errors
Swansea's Gavin Henson is tackled by Andy Nicol

Swansea 13-21 Glasgow

Swansea slumped to their second successive home defeat as 16 points from Tommy Hayes saw Glasgow home at St Helen's.

Last season's Welsh-Scottish League champions made a glut of errors and the Scots were good enough to take full advantage.

Tries from Hayes and lock Nathan Ross helped kill off the Whites, who managed a consolation touch down from hooker Garin Jenkins.

Hayes, who controlled play superbly from fly-half, finished with a conversion, two penalties and a drop goal to add to his try.

Compounding Swansea's problems, scrum-half Rhodri Jones was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg after falling awkwardly in a first half tackle.

  Scorers
Swansea: try - G Jenkins; cons - Henson; pens - Henson 2
Glasgow: tries - Hayes, Ross; cons - Hayes; pens - Hayes 2; drop goals - Hayes.
Glasgow led 8-3 at the break after a miserable 40 minutes blighted by basic mistakes and a shrill blast of the referee's whistle.

The tone was set by Gavin Henson early on when he blazed wide an easy penalty from 25 metres.

Hayes followed suit minutes later as he missed the target from in front on the 22m line.

But Henson did manage to get the score board clicking on 10 minutes with a well struck penalty after another Glasgow transgression.

Hayes levelled with a penalty and on the half hour claimed the game's first try.

The Cook islander started the move by speeding past the Swansea cover 40 metres out, James McLaren and Rory Kerr providing the support for Hayes to dash over in the corner.

Swansea brought on a rash of substitutes, but Glasgow continued to hold sway and took a deserved win.
