Cerith Rees converted all five and kicked five penalties for a personal contribution of 25 points. A magnificent break out of defence by Welsh international Gareth Thomas was a feature of the opening stages. Glasgow were penalised and Rees opened the scoring with a penalty, following up with a second soon afterwards. But James Craig took advantage of some shadow tackling by the Bridgend three-quarters to score the first try of the match for Glasgow. Barry Irving converted to put the Scotsmen into the lead and added a penalty to cancel out a third kicked by Rees just before the interval. Power and pace Some fine passing between Thomas and John Funnell saw Thomas sprinting over for a try immediately after the resumption. Rees converted and then succeeded with his fourth penalty to see Bridgend comfortably back into the lead. After trailing by a point at the interval they moved to 19-10 with 10 minutes. Coming up from full-back, Adrian Durston registered a second try for Bridgend following a break by Shawn van Rensburg. Immediately afterwards, Gareth Jones took a pass on the halfway line and raced over for Bridgend's third try. Bridgend were now running wild and tries followed quickly from Mama Molitika and Gareth Thomas, his second of the match. Rees' fifth conversion brought up the half century of points for the home side. Glasgow were well beaten but Rowland Reid went over for a last-minute consolation try for them.
