Sharples has been training with England as part of their 45-man preliminary World Cup squad
Gloucester winger Charlie Sharples has signed a contract extension to keep him at Kingsholm until 2014.
The 21-year-old has played 68 games for the Premiership club since making his debut during the 2007/08 season.
"I knew I wanted to stay and I was pretty certain the club wanted me so I thought why wait?" he said.
"I've got three years of rugby left with Gloucester so I can knuckle down and concentrate playing for them."
He added: "Aside from the fact I came through the academy and being local, it is a good club to be at and I'm very settled here.
"I haven't got to the position I'm in through luck, I've always worked hard. It's been a gradual improvement for me.
"Every season is getting better for me - more game time and better performances."
Sharples scored 18 tries in 29 games for Gloucester last season, earning a place in the England Saxons squad for the Churchill Cup in June.
He has since won a place in Martin Johnson's 45-man World Cup training squad., external
"I was delighted when I got the call from the Saxons and more so when I got called into the England squad so it's all moved quite quickly," he added.
"I've got plenty to work hard for."
