Wigan Warriors give legend Kris Radlinski deputy role

Wigan Warriors have given ex-Great Britain full-back Kris Radlinski a new role as right-hand man to new coach Michael Maguire.

The 33-year-old Warriors legend has been named general manager.

He told the club website: "I enjoy my work with the scholarship players and will be able to combine two roles.

"In particular, using my experience to ensure the players understand what it means to play for Wigan whilst also looking after their welfare."

Radlinski retired as a player in 2006 before returning to the game a year ago when he took charge on a part-time basis of Wigan's scholarship scheme and was also on England's backroom staff for the Four Nations series.

He will liaise between Michael and all other aspects of the club to enhance performance

Chairman Ian Lenagan

"I am honoured to be given such an important and prestigious position within the club and look forward to the challenge," he added.

Chairman Ian Lenagan said: "This is an important role to ensure today's standards, disciplines and levels of performance, skills and behaviour are the same from scholarship to first team.

"Kris has quickly shown his qualities in scholarship management and in his role with the England team.

"He will liaise between Michael and all other aspects of the club to enhance performance."
