 Former Newcastle player Carmont will be on World Cup duty for Samoa |
Wigan centre George Carmont has agreed an improved contract with the club for 2009, with the option of an extra year. Carmont, who is to play for Samoa at the World Cup, was a huge success in his first season at the JJB Stadium, scoring 14 tries in 33 games. Wigan's decision to offer an "amended" contract to the 30-year-old quashes talk of a move to French rugby union. "It was only fair to reflect better George's value to the club," said Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan. Carmont joined Wigan from Newcastle Knights last winter and his impressive performances earned him the Warriors players' player of the year award and a place in the engage Super League Dream Team.
