Noble hoping for new Wigan deal

Wigan coach Brian Noble
Noble wants to win trophies with the Warriors

Wigan coach Brian Noble is in talks with the club about a new contract.

Noble left the Bradford Bulls to take over as the Warriors coach in April 2006 but is out of contract at the end of the current season.

"I'm in talks with owner Ian Lenagan," Noble told the club's website. "We have made considerable strides at this club and I'd like to see the job finished."

Noble said he was "hopeful" of signing a new deal, and added: "There are really good things happening here."

Noble succeeded Ian Millward at Wigan and ensured their Super League survival at the end of the 2006 campaign.

The 47-year-old began a process of rebuilding at the Cherry and Whites, taking them to within one game of last season's Grand Final.

"I said when I came that we would not win trophies overnight but I think we are getting close," added Noble.

"You've got to have pretty serious reasons to want to leave a club of Wigan's stature.

"There are some really good things happening at the club and when you are building a bridge it would be nice to see it painted."
