Radlinski last played competitively in September 2005

The 30-year-old, who last played competitively in September, quit the sport earlier this season because of a long-standing knee injury.

In his absence, the Warriors have slumped to the bottom of the Super League with four points from 16 games.

"Last night I decided to do it," Radlinski told the Wigan Evening Post.

"I have been talking to coach Brian Noble and chairman Maurice Lindsay about this for a couple of weeks now.

"Basically I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something bad happened to Wigan after all the club has given me and done for me in the past.

"I have been watching all the games and I have seen them struggle.

"I think they need a bit of confidence and some more experience, and hopefully I will be able to give the side a bit more of both."

Noble, who has failed to turn around the club's fortunes since taking over as head coach in April, described Radlinski's decision as "great news for the club".

He added: "I have known Kris for a long time working with him in the Great Britain set-up and I know how much the Wigan club means to him."

Lindsay, meanwhile, revealed Radlinski would play for Wigan for free.
