Injury ends Davico's Wigan dream

Wigan have terminated prop Luke Davico's contract with the club following his injury problems.

The 31-year-old, a close-season signing from Canberra, damaged his pectoral muscle for the second time in a pre- season friendly at Salford in December.

Wigan Chairman Maurice Lindsay said: "Luke was operated on last week and he has been advised by the surgeon to totally rest for six to 12 months.

"Rugby League is out of the question for him and he is set to return home."

Davico suffered the same injury with Canberra last year. It cut short his season and he made his switch to the Super League.

Davico said: "It's devastating and I am shattered by the news.

"I felt absolutely at home here at Wigan and it is a massive blow that I won't be able to play in this side.

"The club, the players and the fans have been great to me and I just wish I could have repaid them.

"I hope they have a great season and I just wish I could have been a part of it."
