Cassidy agrees new deal at Widnes
Widnes
Veteran Widnes forward Mick Cassidy has agreed a new one-year deal with the club, provided they avoid relegation.

The ex-Wigan player moved to the Halton Stadium at the start of the season and will stay if they stay in Super League.

"I've really enjoyed my time here," said the 31-year-old. "The club is really going forward."

Coach Frank Endacott said: "Mick's been consistently one of our best players each week. Age doesn't come into it with players who have his work ethic."

Endacott is hoping that Cassidy's new deal will be the first of several among players who are out of contract at the end of this season.

Widnes are currently second from bottom in Super League and are deep in relegation trouble.
