Finnigan extends Widnes deal
Forward Simon Finnigan has agreed a new two-year contract with Widnes.

The 21-year-old was born in Warrington but brought up in Australia and arrived at Widnes last winter looking for a trial after playing for Penrith Panthers in the NRL.

He impressed Widnes coach Neil Kelly enough in pre-season games to earn a contract for the rest of this term and has now established himself as a first-team regular.

"I'm delighted that Simon has decided to stay as I think he's one of the most promising young back row forwards in the game," said Kelly.

"He now has two years to establish himself and I don't see why he can't go all the way to international honours."

Shane Millard

Earlier in the week, Widnes extended the contracts of three key players.

Shane Millard, Julian F O'Neill and Paul Atcheson all agreed new deals with the club.

Hooker Millard, who has been in outstanding form and is a possible Man of Steel candidate, has turned down an offer from former club South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL to stay with the Vikings for another three years.

Prop O'Neill has signed a new two-year deal, whilst utility man Atcheson has committed himself for another season.
