Warrington coach Tony Smith has praised hooker Jon Clarke for his performance during the 26-24 defeat by St Helens.

Clarke has been out of action since fracturing his ankle in August 2009 and recently returned to the Wolves side.

Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside: "He has shown what a quality player and bloke he is.

"He's hasn't had a lot of game time, so to come out and play so well in such a high impact game and to have an impact is credit to him."

He added: "There's been weeks when he's sat on my bench, not having used him, and he's handled that and done the right stuff."
