Mathers joined Warrington from Wigan last season

Full-back Richie Mathers will leave Warrington at the end of the season after rejecting a new 12-month deal.

The 26-year-old faced losing his spot to Huddersfield skipper Brett Hodgson who will join the Wolves next season.

Head coach Tony Smith told the Warrington Guardian: "He wants to be number one wherever he is.

"He'd have loved to have stayed if the circumstances had been different. I'll do my best to make sure he is looked after wherever he goes."
