Warrington Wolves prop forward Gareth Carvell revealed his delight at playing again during their 32-24 defeat to Hull KR on Thursday evening.

The 28-year-old made his first appearance for his new side since his move from Hull FC in the close season.

"It was good to get a hit out," Carvell told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I've not played since the final in August so it was good to get a game under my belt. I feel good and I enjoyed the game."

We looked a bit disorganised in patches and it's something to work on

Warrington prop Gareth Carvell
Carvell said the result was far from pleasing but he was more concerned with the side's preparation for their opening Super League game with St Helens on Friday 13 February.

"We weren't really bothered about the result, we were more bothered about the performance.

"We were still pretty disappointed with both anyway. We looked a bit disorganised in patches and its something to work on.

"We've got two weeks to put it right and I'm sure we will do."
