What a night and what a performance - but this was not the one-man show that some might have expected.
The most significant feature of Andrew Johns' debut for Warrington was the way the whole side lifted their game in response to having the world's greatest player in their ranks.
Johns was superb, as you might expect. His general kicking game was millimetre perfect, his distribution more than efficient and his goal-kicking, including a drop-goal, just about impeccable. He produced only one hair-raising, eye-catching moment eight minutes into the second half with a scintillating break that set up a try on a plate for Logan Swann.
But the thousands who crammed into the Haliwell Jones Stadium to watch the most anticipated debut in 10 years of Super League would have been most impressed with the way his team-mates responded.
Johns by himself cannot win Warrington a Grand Final.
But Johns and the rest of the Warrington side playing as well as this could go very close to upsetting the odds at Old Trafford in October.
