Wakefield have signed St Helens reserve prop Paul Johnson on a two-year deal. The 22-year-old, who can also play as a second row forward, was on a dual registration deal at Whitehaven this season but played two games for Saints. Wildcats head coach John Kear said: "We've had our eye on Paul for quite some time. "We're assembling a squad based mainly around young players who have the drive and hunger to succeed at Super League level and Paul fits that bill." Wakefield have now signed six players as they attempt to rebuild for next season following a disappointing 11th place finish in 2010. Crusaders hooker Tommy Lee and Hull KR back row forward Frankie Mariano will also bolster the pack, while they have also signed Warrington winger Kevin Penny, along with two new half-backs, Featherstone Rovers' Jessie Joe Parker and Salford's Jeremy Smith. But coach John Kear had rebuilding to do after seven players left the staff at the end of the season. Hooker Tevita Leo-Latu and centre Sean Gleeson signed for Salford, while winger Damien Blanch has gone to Catalans. And skipper Jason Demetriou, tipped to move to Championship rugby, prop Kyle Bibb and utility man Paul Johnson joined stand-off Paul Cooke through the Belle Vue out door.
