Atkins was tipped to earn an England call-up this year

Wakefield's England centre Ryan Atkins has pulled out of this autumn's Four Nations tournament.

The 23-year-old, who is joining Warrington next season, is to have a wrist operation.

He said: "It's something I've put off for the last two years but I really want to get it right now.

"It's important to figure in the entire pre-season. It would been great to have been considered for England but it can't be helped."

Atkins played his final match for Wakefield in Saturday's Super League play-off defeat by Catalans Dragons.
