Roby started his first game of the season against Wakefield on Friday |
St Helens coach Mick Potter says James Roby's versatility has been vital to the club so far this season. The 24-year-old normally operates as a hooker but has been required in other positions due to injuries. Potter told BBC Radio Merseyside: "James is invaluable to the team with his versatility. "Admittedly his best position is hooker, but at the moment we can't get enough time out of him there because we've got to plaster up other areas." He added: "He's a pleasure to coach and nothing's ever too much trouble for him to help the team out. He's got great speed and vision and he's a natural rugby league player." Despite the opening day 32-12 defeat against Hull in February, Potter says the squad as a whole have been fantastic so early in the campaign. "What's very pleasing from my aspect there is a no fuss attitude," said Potter. "They don't rant and rave and they just get on with the job and they do the best they can all the time. "Without picking anyone out, they're real easy to coach and they just want to do it and they just love playing for the club."
