Bennett retired in 2008 after 13 years at St Helens

St Helens have rearranged Mike Bennett's testimonial game for next Friday, when they will face Halifax at Knowsley Road.

The Saints were due to host Barrow on Sunday but fans' efforts to clear the pitch were in vain.

Bennett said: "It's superb that Halifax have agreed to play the Saints at such short notice. I'm sure it will be a fitting game for my testimonial.

"I'd like to thank the volunteers who turned out to help clear the pitch."
